Sustainability

Step by step toward a cleaner future.

Conserving resources means developing systems that are usable in the long term, flexibly adaptable, and efficient in operation. Time, budget, and energy also play a central role in software development. Software is particularly sustainable when it does not have to be constantly replaced but can grow alongside new requirements. Our solutions are designed precisely for this purpose: modular, scalable, and ready for change. New regulatory requirements, market demands, or additional functions can be quickly integrated without creating unnecessary complexity. At the same time, we ensure that companies only use the resources they actually need. Greater functionality or higher performance can be flexibly added at any time as required. We support our clients in using their systems efficiently and operating them economically in the long term.

Software

Sustainable software development.

Our path toward sustainable software development also includes the step-by-step reduction of the environmental impact generally associated with business operations. This begins with the hybrid working environment for employees – alternating between office and home office days – and extends to offering environmentally friendly commuting options. This concept also includes modernizing workplaces, using renewable energy, making the office building climate-neutral, and significantly increasing the share of recycled office materials. In the final step, we are also aligning our sales activities and project implementations at client sites with our sustainability goals. Using online communication and remote management, we particularly leverage the opportunities that digitalization offers for advising and supporting our clients. In this way, for example, many business trips to client sites can be avoided and on-site user training at our premises can be replaced by online seminars. Scalable cloud solutions also allow our clients to forgo the use of their own servers for transaction banking and to access only the resources they actually need.

Responsibility

Social responsibility.

As a mid-sized company, we place great importance on ethical business practices and social responsibility in all our dealings with employees, clients, and partners. Over the course of our 40-year company history, such principles have developed into the cornerstones of our corporate identity. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a specific contribution that companies can make within the framework of their social responsibility to sustainable business practices. We acknowledge our social, ecological, and economic responsibility and are committed to fair working conditions, social engagement, responsible use of resources, environmental protection, transparent business practices, and compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.

Health

Healthy working environment.

In the planning and construction of our company building in Cologne, we placed great emphasis on a spacious and healthy working environment. Modernization measures are primarily focused on fostering an open and collegial working atmosphere and strengthening the team spirit. This includes specially designed areas for team meetings as well as a terrace in a natural setting for meetings and moments of relaxation.

Protection

Practiced environmental protection.

multicash respects the environment in its activities and has taken measures to reduce its ecological footprint. The goal is to modernize workplaces, use renewable energy, make the office building climate-neutral, and significantly increase the share of recycled office materials. This includes focusing on the use of electricity from our own photovoltaic system, preferring electric cars as company vehicles, and operating several company-owned electric charging stations. The purchase and use of electric vehicles in employees’ private lives is expressly encouraged and supported by providing the corresponding infrastructure. The separation of recyclable materials and other waste, as well as the safe disposal of electronic waste through a sustainability-certified partner, are among the standard practices lived and followed by all multicash employees.

Cooperation with the Nature Conservation Association Cologne.

In a long-standing collaboration with the regional Nature Conservation Association Cologne (NABU), we are implementing measures to improve the environment at our company headquarters. Our natural green spaces around the company premises – regularly maintained by professionals – are not only a popular gathering spot for our employees and visitors, but also home to several wildlife species native to the Lower Rhine region. We support their settlement, among other means, through a nesting aid for wild bees set up by NABU in collaboration with AKTIONGRUEN (www.aktiongruen.de). Our company pond and the surrounding trees and bushes are also a sought-after destination for birds and other animals. During a tour with NABU, the endangered garden dormouse was even spotted here.

Digitalization is a key element in the fight against climate change. In all sectors, digital technologies have enormous potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and limit ecological impacts. Bringing together climate protection and digitalization is the great challenge that politics, business, and society face together.
